 Les origines de l'entreprise remonte à 1856 par la construction de apeur. C'est en 1901 que fut construit leur premier camion à vapeur qui remporta un franc succés.
Edwin Foden, le fondateur, meurt en 1911, un de ses fils émigre en australie, le second, Edwyn Richard, ne parvient pas à convaincre le conseil d'administration et quitte la compagnie pour fonder sa propre entreprise: "ERF" en 1932
"Fodens Ltd" fut racheté par "Paccar Company" en 1980 et fut renommée "Foden Trucks" en 1983.
